Scenic getaway day

First, the photos, then the narrative. All four photos were taken on the Talimena Scenic Drive, west and northwest of Mena, Arkansas.

We took US 270 from Hot Springs this morning, heading west. When we got to the intersection of AR 88, we headed west into Mena, Arkansas, where we had lunch.

From there, we drove northwest on a scenic route to Queen Wilhelmina State Park and beyond. After entering Oklahoma, the road’s designation changes to OK Highway 1, but I think its designation in both states is also the Talimena Scenic Drive.  And it is, indeed, scenic.  Even with today’s fog and light mist (part of the time), the views were gorgeous.  The iPad camera does not do the scenes justice, but my recollections are clear…great day for a drive.

Oh John, if you’re a rambling geezer, then I’m a geeza! Do the same, and often. I must admit you make me laugh out loud with your comment, though! 🙂

  2. I knew its name when I took the picture, Trish, but I don’t remember now. More evidence you’re following the ramblings of a geezer! ;–)

Wow! How beautiful are these photo, John! Lots of wide open space…liken that! Picture #3 has a good sized lake shown. Do you know its name?

I wish you would tell me what you think about this post...
