Missed Blood

I awoke too late to see it. The “blood moon” was something I’d hoped to see early this morning, but it was not to be. Despite having gone to bed far earlier than usual, I didn’t awake until after 4:00 a.m. By then, the eclipse was nearly over. I saw the moon in all its bright white glory, but I caught only the tail end of the eclipse and saw no traces of red. Damn!

There will be more opportunities, if the weather is right and if I make and act appropriately on plans to make the most of them. Remaining in this tetrad of total lunar eclipses are:

Sure thing, John. They were not the best photos, having been taken on my sons iphone, but we gave it our best shot. Going to borrow a camera from a photographer friend of mine for October…hoping to have much better results, too! 😉

  2. Great photos you all too, Mosha! Thanks for sharing on FB.

My son and I went up on the roof at 2:40 AM and took some photos of it. It was really quite beautiful (reddish/orange from our view), in a eerie sort of way. The total lunar eclipse for us was at 2:46. We stayed up there watching for a while as it passed and moon slowly became lighter. Yes, John, there are those other opportunities. I would think that the one in October might be something to see begin that October tends to have the fullest and brightest moons under normal circumstances.

Really wished I had a telescope last night, that would have been great!! 🙂

I wish you would tell me what you think about this post...
