An Evening of Poetry

I received a forwarded email a few nights ago from the president of the writers’ club.  The forwarded message was an invitation for the winner of the club’s poetry contest (yours truly) and others to organize a twenty minute slot at an upcoming meeting of Wednesday Spa Poets, “an informal group that has met in Hot Springs every Wednesday evening for the past 25 years.”  The upshot: Wednesday evening, November 19, a few of us will read our poetry there.

It sounds like it could be a fun evening. According to the email invitation, “Our regulars include well published poets, rank amateurs up for the first time, doctors, college professors, street people and, right now, one of the country’s top rated female poets.”

The event will be held at Maxine’s, a popular live music/performance venue in the historic downtown section of Hot Springs.   I had no idea there was a weekly poetry reading venue in Hot Springs. And their live music history sounds very interesting.  And they serve craft beers.  I’m liking this area more every day.
