Sixty-Five

Goals are overrated. Achieving them, we believe, will make our lives better.  Success in reaching objectives we set for ourselves brings happiness.  Contentment. Joy. Fulfillment. Nonsense.

Contentment comes with satisfaction. Satisfaction comes with appreciation of one’s lot in life. I firmly believe happiness is found only when we come to accept the circumstances in which we find ourselves and, within those circumstances, appreciate the goodness that surrounds us.  We must minimize the negative aspects of our challenges.  That’s all there is to happiness. It’s simple.  But it’s so damn hard.
