Last night’s storms made me wonder what would be the best course of action if we were in the path of a tornado. I have no idea where, in this house, to go. Weather preparedness materials suggest finding a place that, in this house, may not exist. Where does one find shelter in rooms with very high ceilings and with what amounts to an entire wall of glass looking out over a steep hill?
Perhaps there are experts who could advise me on the proper course of action, here where we live. I wonder what those experts would be called and how I might find one? This is such an odd thought to have at five o’clock in the morning as I sip my second cup of what is now lukewarm coffee. It would have made more sense to have had this thought at four o’clock, not long after I’d gotten up for the day.
T, there have been tornadoes right here in HSV…lots nearby. I would have thought the same as you, though…they should be illegal in hilly terrain.
If there is a cellar
I wouldn’t’ve thought you had tornados there. Don’t they need big expanses of uninterrupted flatness (or flatness that they can kick over the interruptions in)?
No cellar or basement, but there is a crawl space…hard to get to and not suitable as a refuge!
Didn’t know that Arkansas was tornado prone, John. You have no cellar, nor basement I imagine.
