July 31: Thoughts for the Day

It is frightening that police departments across the country are proudly displaying, and using, equipment once reserved for all-out-war.  Why the hell do police departments need grenade launchers and amphibious assault vehicles?  I saw a piece Bill Maher did on this topic and it got me thinking: if the paid “militia” can lay legitimate claim to such gear, is it not reasonable for the average citizen to assert his right to “keep and bear” nuclear weapons?

Taken to the extreme, any “right” can be a parody of the absurd.  Reasonable people must insist on injecting thought into emotion-driven actions.
