Sometimes, we’re too tough on ourselves and too tough on others; we demand for the sake of demanding, rather than for any reasonable purpose. We insist on following processes that do not suit us, though their purpose was simply to serve as guidelines for achieving some goal, not as an end in and of themselves. Must we follow a prescribed format for meditation, or will our own unique way of reaching our aim suffice? The best question always is “what?” not “how?”
