Feeding on Fusion

A few days ago, as I was skimming through some old posts on this blog, portions of a screed I posted on Christmas Day last year caught my attention. I don’t know how I could have let the ideas I proffered pass by without plans to execute them, but somehow I did.  Having come across them, though, I now must plan to transform the ideas into reality.

I wrote about Mexican-Indian fusion foods, suggesting, among others, the following possibilities:

  • lamb vindaloo tamales;
  • bhindi masala burritos;
  • picadillo samosas;
  • arroz con gobhi Manchurian; and
  • baigan guisada.

I will add to my to-do list the creation of recipes for these dishes. I suspect I can come up with recipes that will successfully combine the two cuisines, melding cultures into dishes suitable for anyone with good taste and a sense of adventure.  Then, after creating the recipes, I will start making them.  By this time next year, I hope to be able to write a summary review of all these dishes.
