February 23: Thoughts for the Day

Though not a legitimate “quote” from the Buddha, I find this aphorism especially meaningful:

Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the single candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.

I am by no means a master, nor even a very good student, of efficient use of words, but I am pleased when I find short, meaningful aphorisms like this.  Not only are the words instructive, but the efficiency with which their meaning is conveyed is pleasing.
