Scale has such an impact on perception. I can imagine how different the tables and chairs in this room would appear to me if I were six inches tall. They would seem to be massive works of stunning architecture, rather than implements of comfort and convenience. Perhaps scale can explain the sense of awe one sees so often in young children; maybe it’s the same sense of awe I experience when I stand next to a sheer cliff rising hundreds of feet above me.
