That moment, that spectacular moment last night when I saw four deer beneath my window, is seared into my memory. But memories never last. Nor do the feelings of gratitude and awe. One day, all those memories and all that gratitude and the experiences of awe will turn to dust. They will evaporate. Why, then, should I treasure them now? Because this life is all we have! Treasure the moments, because moments become memories and memories fade and disappear. It matters today. It won’t matter in a hundred years. But it matters today.
