Secrets are secret; some things, you don’t even tell yourself.
Pretend the life you live is satisfying and soulful and your wishes are dreams.
Don’t ask yourself questions if you can’t bear the answers.
Don’t break your own heart by asking what might have been.
Satisfaction with what is can be the most comfortable way to live.
Being forever regretful leads to nothing but more regret.
Smile at the sun, and at the mirror, and tell the truth as long as it spreads light and joy.
Feign paralysis if the truth would damage souls.
Raindrops are not tears, but tear drops can rain; tend to them and dry them softly.
Thanks for the song, Juan…a classic, for sure!
And John, nothing to confess? I’m inclined to agree on this. I view confession as a written or oral statement acknowledging guilt. Secrets don’t always carry guilt. Often it is just a deeply kept experience, or thought, that is difficult to express and could carry the sigma of fear that if told, will not be understood.
Still in Dallas, albeit briefly for now, Juan. I’ve decided poetry allows me to say things I can’t with prose; though I’m not any better at poetry than prose, I suppose. 😉 I avoid confessions; it’s easy, because I have nothing to confess!
I don’t know that “tear drops can rain.” Doesn’t read very Nietzschean, to me. 😉 LOL! I’m being critical.
Where are you, my Man? You’re doing poetry.
I’m a master at ignoring secrets … because a secret is as easy as a savings account — and I have several. But secrets always turn into confessions!
For you and the Goddess Druxha:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nZnqtDdsws
Yes, this is indeed beautiful. What inspiring thoughts! Thank you, John…you made my day.
Thank you, Lois. Certainly, feel free to share it; just please acknowledge me as the writer.
Beautifully written. Can I share this?
