Your Eyes

Your eyes betray you.  They say more than your words, more than your gestures, more than the way you shrug your shoulders.  They speak a language that eludes you.  They are fluent in divulging secrets you hoped to obscure.

Those flashing eyes, those eyes that smile long before your lips turn, reveal things about thoughts you wish to hide. Those eyes are genuine, unlike the lies they unmask.  Your words carry messages of congeniality, but your eyes convey disdain.  Every attempt to deceive, to seduce, or to flatter flashes like a neon sign in your eyes.

You cannot hide your thoughts without closing your eyes.  And, even then, your eyes tell the story you hope to hide. Your eyes read like a police blotter, offering up the facts behind the lies.  You say “you matter.”  Your eyes tell a different story.

The window to the soul! I count often on what the eyes speak, or don’t!

When Roger and I first started blogging, everyone had “blog identities”– Roger was Dread Pirate Roger, and I was Rexroth’s Daughter. I wanted to change my name though to “Kills With Her Eyes.” I love remembering that. Thanks for the reminder!

I wish you would tell me what you think about this post...
