Not Bothered by Paraskavedekatriaphobia

Tonight, we will attend “trivia night,” an event that supports an organization that, in turn, supports the Village library. We are sitting at one of two tables of eight organized by members of the Village Writers’ Club.

Inasmuch as today is Friday the 13th, the event will (I am told) have a number of questions related to the bad luck and superstition and such.  If one of the questions asks for the term that describes fear of Friday the 13th, I will respond “paraskavedekatriaphobia,” if I remember how to spell it.

In lieu of providing any hope of knowing the answers to the trivia questions to help my team, I prepared a dinner of arroz con pollo for our table.  Others will bring chips and dips, a dessert, and plates and utensils. According to others who have participated in this event in the past, tables compete for recognition of the food they bring as much as for their teams’ knowledge of trivia.

In other news, my Weather Underground app claims the chances of rain this morning are one hundred percent, which will put a damper (pardon the pun) on the early morning bird-watching walk organized by HSV Audubon.  Regardless of whether the walk takes place, we’ll go to today’s meeting on the subject of birds and climate change.
