Transition

The end of a calendar year is an artificial ending, but it is an ending, nonetheless.  It is a time we choose to mark as a milestone, both an ending and a beginning.  The end of a year can be, if we let it, the end of our time of making and re-making mistakes.  It can be the point at which our misguided direction can be brought around toward the true course.

I will mourn and celebrate the end of this year in my own private way, hidden just slightly from the rest of the world.  It’s not hidden out of embarrassment, only from being weary and surprised at having been so far off course.

I will welcome and celebrate the new year in my own private way and in ways that suggest I am calling from the rooftops.  I will treat the new year as an obligation and a friend, a mentor who encourages me to make the changes I need to make and leave the most egregious mistakes behind.

If I have the courage to pursue dreams, I will achieve them.  Time will tell, as it always does.
