Things to Do

I’m posting two items early…Thoughts for the Day and this post…for October 14.  I have things to do and places to be in the morrow.  Though I expect to be up as early as usual, I may allow myself to sleep in.  So, in order to meet my self-imposed commitment, you may be reading these things early.

Here is a scene that I’ve just written for a story or novel or SOMETHING I have yet to conceive:

Sitting on a metal chair at an empty coffee table in a tiny, stark, white room, illuminated by a single incandescent bulb hanging from a cord in the ceiling.  The walls are scuffed and dirty. The paint on the chair is thin, and bare metal shows through where a thousand men have planted their butts over the past twenty years, trying hard not to answer questions delivered by men who won’t accept silence.

As for things to do: in addition to meeting my morning obligations, I must meet all the other obligations that I either have allowed or have sought out.
