The Newsroom

Thanks to my sister-in-law, I watched the first two episodes of The Newsroom in the last couple of days.  Oh my god, what an incredibly riveting program!  The writing is superb, the acting excellent, and the story lines are utterly believable and absorbing.

After getting all excited about the series, which my lovely SIL generously offered to provide via her DVD subscription to Netflix, I decided to follow-up on how many seasons I can expect to view.  It was then I was appalled to learn that the series was renewed for a third season by HBO early this year, immediately after which the network said the third season would be the last.  Crap!

I’m sure I’ll offend someone with this comment, and I’m sorry, but here goes: three seasons for a program that (so far, in my view) is intelligent and thought-provoking, yet The Amazing Race is now in its twenty-fourth season?

Well, at least I’ll be able to watch the remainder of the first season and two more before I have to find another outlet.

We’ve been looking for good, thoughtful, interesting stuff to watch. Thank you for reminding us about The Newsroom. Three seasons should keep us out of trouble for a little while!

I wish you would tell me what you think about this post...
