UPDATE: The problem was not Entergy, it seems. Though the power was not restored as estimated at 10:30, I got a text saying it was restored at 12:22 p.m., along with this odd explanation of the cause: “Public Inflicted Damage.” I hope it was what I think it was, a wreck that knocked down a telephone poll, and not an intentional act of vandalism.
It’s just an inconvenience. An annoyance. Nothing serious, just an irritant. But it’s becoming an increasingly bothersome irritant. Our power is out, again. The fourth time since we moved here. Each time, it has been out for anywhere from an hour to five hours. I do not know what causes them, but these outages perturb me. The automated text notification, in response to my call to report the outage, says power should be restored by 10:30 a.m.
In the meantime, we sit and mull it over.
