February 23: Thoughts for the Day

Though not a legitimate “quote” from the Buddha, I find this aphorism especially meaningful:

Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the single candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.

I am by no means a master, nor even a very good student, of efficient use of words, but I am pleased when I find short, meaningful aphorisms like this.  Not only are the words instructive, but the efficiency with which their meaning is conveyed is pleasing.

About John Swinburn

"Love not what you are but what you may become."― Miguel de Cervantes "Intimacy is never wrong. It can be awkward, it can be unsettling, it can feel dangerous, it can seem out of place, but it’s never wrong."― John Swinburn
